I’ve been following the Cuusoo progress of this Ghostbusters kit for ages now, and it’s phenomenal to see it realised. The characters are spot on, and the car is, well, spookily lifelike. I could run out ghostly puns and jokes by the barrel load here, but I’ll try not to.
Ever since I was little, charging around the garden with a home-made cereal-box-and-lemonade-bottle backpack, Ghostbusters has held a massive place in my heart. What next? A Goonies set? A Star Trek set…
So children will love this kit, but really, it’s not for them, is it? It’s for all the 80s kids like me who never grew up. I mean, if it was for kids, there would be at least one ghost for them to catch, wouldn’t there? How can you play with them, otherwise? These toys have nothing to fight! Where’s Slimer, or the majestic Zuul to do battle against? Yeah, it’s probably for people like me who are likely to put it in a display case and afford it prime position in their home.
The upshot of this travesty is that I’m going to have to make my own baddies. Watch this space, there may have to be a hand-made Slimer on the way…
Also, beware that this is a limited edition set – I don’t know the numbers produced, but it may not be available for long. Get it here on the LEGO site.
