If you’re not sure how to fill up the summer holidays with activities your kids might like, if you’re questioning your own creative skills in setting up activities, or if you want to have a positive space to create alongside your kids, then look no further than Creative Kids.
Creative Kids is a summer art class for kids ages 4 to 8. It’s an art class with a difference, focussed on getting children to really interact with the materials and explore and express themselves through the variety of techniques – making real pieces of art in the process.
Little artists in the making
The classes will be exploring things like painting, drawing, writing and photography. There are five classes scheduled throughout the month of August, and you can choose to either attend one or more classes, or all five. Creative Kids is designed to stimulate creative confidence and inspiration, traits that, as Charlotte Taylor-Page (the brains behind the classes) explains, often need a little nudge but will serve children throughout their lives. So, if you’ve got a little artist in the making (or several little artists), these classes can be just the little nudge they need to fully let their creative side loose.
About the classes themselves
As I mentioned, there are five classes, each based loosely around a theme/technique: Journal Making and Creating Everyday, Painting and Self-Portrait, Story-Telling and Poetry, Sculpting and Photography. The final class will be a sort of mini-art show, where kids can both show off what they made and work together on a big piece of collaborative art.
Sounds great! How do I register?
You can buy a place for the classes on Make, Do and Friend, where you can pay via PayPal. You can also pay via cheque in advance, or on the door.
Each individual class costs £8, and a place for all five classes costs £40 – and includes a special mini-ebook designed to keep the creativity going at home.
If you pay for the classes via PayPal, you’ll get a confirmation email, along with your PDF of the ebook for you to start using at home. If you’re paying in an other way, email Charlotte to book your place.
Where and when?
Classes will be held in The Gallery Room at Antenna Studios, Crystal Palace, SE19 3AN. Every Friday throughout August 2pm- 3:30. Kids will need to be accompanied by adults – and adults are encouraged to join in, of course.
Book your place at Make, Do and Friend – which is also full of great crafty ideas for young children.
